ZAP® Rupture Disc

ZAP® Rupture Disc

Continental Disc Corporation's ZAP & KBA reverse acting rupture discs (bursting discs) utilize knife blades to open the rupture discs (bursting discs) as reversal occurs. The ZAP & KBA rupture discs (bursting discs) have the media pressure acting on the convex side of the rupture disc (bursting disc), placing it in compression. When the burst pressure rating of the rupture disc (bursting disc) is reached, the compression loading on the rupture disc (bursting disc) causes it to reverse, snapping it through its neutral position and through the knife blades resulting in a full opening.

Nominal Size Range: 1" - 8" (25mm - 200mm)

Burst Pressure Range: 15psig - 1000psig (1,03barg - 68,9barg)

Recommended Operating Ratio: 90% of the rupture disc's rated (stamped) burst pressure.

Seating Configuration: Flat Seat

Service: Gas

B.D.I. (Burst Disc Indicator)

The B.D.I.® (Burst Disc Indicator) Alarm System is designed for use with Continental Disc rupture discs. The B.D.I.® Alarm System signals the system operator when a rupture disc has burst to relieve an overpressure or vacuum condition.

ENVIRO GUARD® Pipe End Covers

Provide protection of piping, rupture discs, and safety relief valves from unwanted foreign material, rain, insects and/or birds by specifying and installing a ENVIRO GUARD pipe end cover. The ENVIRO GUARD pipe end cover is fabricated from a tough PTFE coated/impregnated fiberglass material suitable for use in harsh environments and temperatures up to 500°F (260°C). It is available for 90° or 45° pipe ends and may be purchased with an optional retrieval rope to retain cover near the location after venting.

Heat Shield

Heat Shields are typically used to reduce the process temperature to which a rupture disc (bursting disc) is exposed. Heat Shields are used where fluoropolymer or other exotic material liners are required for corrosion resistance or as part of the rupture disc (bursting disc) itself in combination with high process temperature.
