C.D.C.'s
Rupture Disc Selection Guide is a basic overview of our history
and our product lines. This brochure compares rupture disc designs
and allows you to select the product(s) most suited to your pressure
situation.

Tension
type rupture discs are oriented in a system with the process media
pressure against the concave side of the rupture disc. As the process
pressure increases beyond the allowable operating pressure the tensile
strength of the material is reached and rupture occurs. |
|
Reverse
Acting rupture discs are oriented in a system with the process media
pressure against the convex side of the disc, placing the rupture
disc in compression. As the burst pressure rating of the disc is reached,
the compression loading on the rupture disc causes it to reverse,
snapping through the neutral position and causing it to open by a
predetermined scoring pattern or knife blade penetration. |

Sanitary
Fitting Assemblies and SANITRX® Rupture Discs are specifically suited
for a wide range of process applications where product purity and
corrosion resistance are required. The CAL-VAC® and POS-A-SET® rupture
discs are highly accurate relief devices for ultra low pressure situations. |

The
state-of-the-art B.D.I. Alarm System is designed specifically for
use with C.D.C. rupture discs or vent panels. The B.D.I. Alarm System
consists of an alarm strip, interfaced with a monitoring unit, computer,
annunciator panel, control panel or other equipment. The alarm system
is activated by the opening of a rupture disc or vent panel. |

Solving
pressure relief problems for you is the special role played by C.D.C.'s
Product Development Group and the Special Products Group. This pool
of product development expertise has been retrofitting C.D.C. designs
into clients' systems for a quarter of a century. They are engineers
who are at home with special or exotic materials, ultra high or ultra
low burst pressures, as well as state-of-the-art processing and testing
requirements. |
|
Vent
Panels and Frames are designed to allow a full and immediate opening
to minimize structural or mechanical damage that may be caused by
expanding gases. They are designed to provide instantaneous overpressure
protection for pressurized equipment like dust collectors, driers,
silos, spreaders, elevators, air scrubbers, sieves, screens and
various other types of dry, bulk handling and storage equipment.

Flow
Test Laboratory
Continental
Disc maintains an ASME Flow Test Laboratory operated by a team
of experienced research and development personnel who are ASME
accepted authorized observers. With the addition of the new Liquid
Flow Loop, the Flow Test Laboratory can now run the full gamut
of flow tests in both air and liquid.
