Continental Disc Corporation's Double Disc Assembly places two rupture discs (bursting discs), either tension type or reverse acting, in series. This provides a number of potential benefits, including a zero-leakage redundant system (a gauge in the midflange would indicate any leakage, which would be contained by the second rupture disc) or a quick-opening device (where a pressurized midflange would maintain the rupture discs until the midflange pressure is dumped and differential pressure opens both rupture discs).
