Reverse Acting

Continental Disc Corporation's reverse acting rupture discs (bursting discs) are state of the art products utilizing a highly accurate manufacturing method to achieve and control a burst pressure at close tolerances. A precision semicircular score or knife blades are used to provide a clean, consistent opening pattern. All of Continental Disc's reverse acting rupture discs (bursting discs) are provided with a zero manufacturing range as a standard.

The HPX® Rupture Disc (Bursting Disc) is a scored reverse acting rupture disc (bursting disc). This differential pressure relief device features an instantaneous full-open relief area for protecting equipment, vessels, systems and people from an overpressure condition. These high precision reverse acting rupture discs (bursting discs) offer proven performance in excess of 250,000 cycles at 95% operating ratio1.

The ULTRX® Rupture Disc (Bursting Disc) is a scored, reverse acting rupture disc (bursting disc). It is a differential pressure relief device that provides an instantaneous full-open, non-reclosing design for protecting equipment, vessels and systems from an overpressure condition. The ULTRX® Rupture Disc (Bursting Disc) has Continental Disc's patented precision controlled indentation to initiate reversal when the specified burst pressure is achieved, and a semicircular score to provide a clean, consistent opening pattern.

The ULTRX® Rupture Disc (Bursting Disc) excels in fully liquid systems as well as gaseous or partial gas/liquid systems. Full opening occurs in liquid or gaseous systems.

The MINTRX® Rupture Disc (Bursting Disc) has many of the same benefits as the ULTRX® Rupture Disc (Bursting Disc), but is specifically designed to operate at lower burst pressures. When the patented precision controlled indentation on the rupture disc (bursting disc) surface initiates the reversal action, full opening will occur. The MINTRX® Rupture Disc (Bursting Disc) excels in low pressure gaseous or partial gas/liquid systems. Consult the factory before using the MINTRX® Rupture Disc (Bursting Disc) in full-liquid applications.

The STAR X® Rupture Disc (Bursting Disc) is designed to provide protection at even lower burst pressures than the ULTRX® or MINTRX® rupture discs (bursting discs). It has Continental Disc's patented nonsymmetrical failure initiating indents, to precisely control disc buckling at a predetermined pressure. The STAR X® Rupture Disc (Bursting Disc) incorporates a handling ring to reduce torque sensitivity. It is specifically designed for low pressure applications that require operating ratio of up to 90% of the disc's rated (marked) burst pressure.

The LOTRX® Rupture Disc (Bursting Disc) represents a breakthrough in rupture disc (bursting disc) design. The LOTRX® Rupture Disc (Bursting Disc) provides all the benfits of Continental's scored, reverse acting discs, with additional features that make it ideal for extremely low pressure applications.

The LOTRX® comes enhanced with features such as the Failure Initiating Indent, which lowers the pressure at which reversal occurs, and the Notched Outlet Ring, that facilitates opening of the rupture disc (bursting disc) along the precision semicircular score at extremely low reversal pressures.

Continental Disc Corporation's RCS™ Rupture Disc (Bursting Disc) is a reverse acting, cross-scored rupture disc. It is a non-reclosing differential pressure relief device that provides instantaneous full opening for protection of equipment, vessels and systems from overpressure conditions.

Continental Disc Corporation's ZAP & KBA reverse acting rupture discs (bursting discs) utilize knife blades to open the rupture discs (bursting discs) as reversal occurs. The ZAP & KBA rupture discs (bursting discs) have the media pressure acting on the convex side of the rupture disc (bursting disc), placing it in compression. When the burst pressure rating of the rupture disc (bursting disc) is reached, the compression loading on the rupture disc (bursting disc) causes it to reverse, snapping it through its neutral position and through the knife blades resulting in a full opening.
